I mean, yes, I'm awake before 8am on a saturday, having had about 4 hours sleep, but importantly, I went to sleep in and woke up to a bedroom containing my wife and my son. I am big ape in his techno-cave, with his family. Sleeping sounds and blinking LEDs and plasma screen with illustrated, anthropomorphic, singing animals entertaining the little one. This makes big ape happy. Plus, big ape should be getting a shiny new gadget-phone and a pocket-sized HDMI divx player delivered between now and lunchtime. Which also makes big ape quite pleased. Nothing like fulfilling Maslow's hierarchy of needs from both directions at the same time :) Later today, a last bit of Christmas shopping, a little work, and another evening with Corben visiting. I'm cautious not to jinx things - my metaphorical knackers are still sore from the collective kickings delivered over the last week - but a bit of determination and the reassurance of having my wonderful wife and extended social circle there for some back-up is going a long way. If i can get away with a nap or two without Corben playing the bongos on my head, I shall consider the weekend quite successfully begun. Sat, 19th Dec. 2009, 08:56

I really like the composition for this one. Here is the problem. This smoking character never appears in Everything Dies at all (it's a totally smoke-free book!). I think I am going to recreate the composition with The Master from "Heart of Stonework" as the character, but use the same composition. Here is an updated cover with the Master from Heart of Stonework. Though, it sort of loses something without that cigarette. Also: the mustache needs work. I think I need a reference photo of Hulk Hogan. Kickstarter news: Only 4 more backers until we reach our sexy mini-goal of 69 backers! Everyone who donates gets some sweet stuff. Minimally, you'll get copies of these books, but the more you donate the more you get. Fri, 18th Dec. 2009, 13:46
![]() (I probably shouldn't post this, it's close enough to done that seeing the finish won't be exciting for anyone. Oh well!) I woke up in the middle of the night with some ideas for the script for Gina's World. I kinda love those midnight revelations. But you've got to get up and write them down or they'll be gone in the morning, no matter how much you think they're set in stone. Anyway, there's always been something missing in the last chapter, and I think I've got that straightened out, yet. Still some work to be done, but I've got the foundation and the direction for it. If you've ever wondered what American-style English sounds like to non-speakers - the actual sound and flow of it, without the content - this Italian "pop song" is probably as close as you're going to get without some sort of terrible brain trauma. Also, the song is pretty great, it wouldn't sound out of place on that "Nuggets" anthology. Quiet times around here. Eleanor's working hard getting pieces together for a joint Giant Robot art show she's doing in January. I'm plugging away on Set to Sea. We've been drinking lots of hot toddys in these cold and rainy days. Yeesh, Christmas is sneaking up on me fast. Time to declare war on this here Christmas. Currently reading: To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf) Currently listening: Fear and Whiskey (Mekons)/The Age of Faith (Will Durant audiobook) Fri, 18th Dec. 2009, 12:03

![]() Order a Cinema Sewer book. Get an original signed drawing in it. It's just that easy. Paypal $29 to: http://cinemasewer.ecrater.com/cate ------- GOD dammit, why did THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX have to be so good? Now I have to revise my best of 2009 list (not to mention my best of the decade list) in order to fit it in. Although the studios made the funniest, most screwball mistake somehow, and put the trailer hype ("Will change the way you watch movies") for the FANTASTIC MR. FOX onto the preview for AVATAR instead. hahaha! What a silly mistake! Between guffaws I mentioned the gaff to one of the ushers at the theatre, and I am told this idiocy will be rectified right away. Thank goodness! I mean, clearly yet more overblown cliche-ridden technicolor videogame graphics (which appear in every single big budget hollywood FX movie) are not anywhere as original as wicked-ass stopmotion puppetry, the highly skilled use of which is treasured by anyone with any modicum of interest in filmic artistry (as well as awesomeness). AVATAR, with its plot cribbed from FERNGULLY (1992), and said videogame graphics depicting imagery about as fresh as a 1979 issue of Heavy Metal Magazine could never seriously, with a straight face, be considered the catalyst for "changing the way you watch movies". Oh Hollywood hype-machine! You're just adorable! Haha, one day you'll get it right. Fri, 18th Dec. 2009, 08:21
Just a month left on Kickstarter ! There seems to be a stall in the donations, must be that whole Christmas thing. I sure hope it picks up after Christmas…or right now!
